Why Ottchen and Use?

Otto, the sailor, and Ursula, a young teacher, were our beloved grandparents. They had known each other since childhood and spent relaxed, carefree times on the local property from 1934. Highly in love and still childless, they married in Bergen on Rügen in 1936. These times changed: slowly at first, with their first parental duties, then more and more quickly with the start of the war in 1939 and came to an abrupt end in 1944.

Many of the photos from that time - viewed retrospectively and in the light of the course of the world and today's knowledge - convey almost unreal scenes of unforgettable, carefree summers of a young family. A kind of calm before the storm that ended with an escape from this little paradise...
